Unprecedented levels of public support for reducing federal expenditures

A Rasmussen poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted in December found that nearly 3 in 4 of those polled favor Washington reducing spending. Overall, 73% nationwide believe the federal government should cut spending in order to deal with the nation’s current economic problems. This comes on the heels of another Rasmussen survey that found “nearly half (48%) of likely U.S. votersnow believe it is necessary to significantly reduce the cost of entitlement programs and military spending to reduce the long-term federal deficit.” This was also an all-time high for that survey question.
